Mykelti Williamson
Perhaps best remembered for his touching performance as ‘Bubba’ opposite Tom Hanks in the Academy Award winning film “Forrest Gump,” Williamson is one of the most sought after actors in Hollywood. Currently, Williamson is a cast member on the FX Network's Drama, "Justified".
Williamson is also currently following his life-long passion for cooking with the launch of BubbaStyle.net. A web based store which makes Mykelti's "Bubba Style" spices, seasonings and sauces available for sale on-line. Williamson is the creator of the Bubba Style product line and the President of Independ-A-Vision Inc, the parent company of Bubba Style Spice Company.
Sondra Williamson
An Atlanta based Print Model and Actress. Sondra worked extensively in retail, was an expansion coordinator for a major cosmetics company and works currently as a Commercial Actress. She's also the VP of Operations and the wife of Williamson.
WHAT IS BUBBA STYLE?
First of all, let's define what a Bubba is.
Bubba; bub-ba n slang: 1. American (Southern) term of endearment. 2. A nickname given to those we are fond of.
Q: Did you know U.S. President Bill Clinton's friends and loved ones call him Bubba? Well, it's true :)
"Bubba Style" is a term coined by actor Mykelti Williamson to describe his own life long simple style of cooking, eating and living life.
"When I'm not working in Hollywood, I keep everything I do simple, easy, cool and laid back. This is what I call Bubba Style." MW.
HOW WE BEGAN
Humble Beginnings ...
My Siblings and I learned to cook as young children. My mom worked everyday and would telephone us after school to talk us through cooking dinner. Mostly we got it right. Sometimes, while watching Cartoons.. I mean doing homework.. dinner got ruined. We never did tell Mom we were watching cartoons while dinner burned so, let's "keep that our little secret". :)
I've been cooking for cast, crew, family and friends for years. A few years ago my Spices and Bar-B-Q Sauce caught on at a friends party and I've been making it privately for them and their guest ever since.
While on location in a northern state, my wife shipped a large box of Bubba Style Seasonings to the caterers and it got ripped off. LOL!
Now, I thought it was pretty tasty stuff myself but DANG boy!.
After a box of Bubba got robbed right off the movie set, I realized I must be on to something. :)
Food Safety
When we decided to sell Bubba Style products to our friends and family, Sondra and I became certified members of "ServSafe" to increase our knowledge of food safety. ServSafe is a California Food Handler Assessment. A National Certification recognized across the U.S.
Our large quantity Spice Mixing partners are also Certified Food Safety Practitioners and operate their facility within the guidelines of National food safety regulations.
